Hostwinds Shared Hosting

“Shared Hosting.”

Shared web hosting might be perfect for you if your website doesn’t need top-tier servers to keep it up and running. Your website will be hosted cheaply on a server with other websites, sharing system resources in the process. In this roommate arrangement, you pay less money, but high traffic spikes may cause your site to slow down or go offline temporarily. Despite the hosts’ best efforts, this is a tradeoff of shared hosting, so be aware of that.

Shared hosting plans on the Linux platform are available from Hostwinds in three different flavors: Basic, Advanced, and Ultimate. Sadly, Hostwinds doesn’t offer any Windows-based plans. Although its costs have risen a little since our previous evaluation of Hostwinds, they are still generally affordable. Basic provides unrestricted storage, unrestricted data transfers each month, a free dedicated IP address, and the capacity to host a single domain for $8.99 per month. You can host up to six domains with Advanced (which starts at $10.99 per month), which is an improvement over Basic. The addition of unlimited domain hosting comes with Ultimate (starting at $12.99 per month). If you want a Hostwinds shared hosting package with room to grow, there’s not much reason to choose anything other than the Ultimate plan, unless you’re on a tight budget. Hostwinds offers discounts if you sign up for several months or years, just like other web hosting providers.
